BTSS Chair Update
Following the news earlier in the week that all remaining National League and National League North and South fixtures for the 2019-20 season have been cancelled (click here for further details) we now know that our season is officially over. More information regarding how this will directly affect Billericay Town Football Club, its supporters and its future plans will be released by the club’s owners in due course and we will be in touch with you again following this. In light of current circumstances, we plan to hold a Supporters’ Player of the Season 2019-20 vote at an appropriate time that will provide as many supporters as possible with an equal opportunity to cast their vote. Details will follow, so thank you in advance for your patience.
The club are continuing to do fantastic work in raising funds to support the work of the BTFC Pastors in the local community, with the total currently standing at just over £4000! (GoFundMe fundraiser page). BTSS Vice Chair Paul Jennings has represented the society and its members by joining club officials and volunteers delivering supplies to the food bank, whilst BTSS member Dave Williams has ‘volunteered’ to be our representative in the head-shaving fundraising challenge! Thank you to Paul and Dave and to everyone who has been able to support the club’s efforts. The Board has continued to make donations from the society on behalf of its members and if you would like to become involved in any of the activities the club is facilitating to support the local community, please contact us at this email address.
Finally, it was with sadness that we learned of the recent passing of long-standing Billericay Town supporter, Alec Zimbler. Alec was known to so many of us, whether as a friendly face operating the turnstiles on match days, as someone who always had time for a chat in the Harry Parker Stand before home games and for many of our members, he was simply a very dear friend. He will be very much missed by everyone at the football club. We have sent condolences on behalf of members to Alec’s wife and their family and when circumstances allow us to once again, we will come together to remember Alec and celebrate his life.
Once again, I would like thank you all for your continued support. The Board remain contactable at this email address and via direct message on Twitter, so please feel free to get in touch with any questions you may have or if we can help with anything at this time.
